Welcome to the practice of Alison Courtney - acupuncturist,
registered midwife, member of the British Acupuncture Council.
Alison
began her career in the NHS in 1968, firstly as a nurse
and then in 1979 she moved into midwifery. During the years
of practice as a midwife came the recognition of the powerful
ability of the body and mind to alter a process as dynamic
as birth, which could not be understood using a modern medical
model. This would eventually lead her to change her path
and to train in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM).
Her career as an acupuncturist allows her to call upon
all of her previous experience while utilising Traditional
Chinese Medicine to treat her patients.
Alison enjoys the challenge of a general practice treating a diverse range of diseases and ages, while at the same time having her interest in pregnancy treatment.
One of the most motivating aspects of Chinese medicine
is that there is not a week that goes by in which something
new isn't learnt, the enormous depth of this medicine is
both inspiring and challenging. It also allows for the individuality
of the practitioner and the patient to be acknowledged.
Alison brings to her own practice a very grounded approach.
Please feel free to contact Alison anytime with your concerns/queries.
